As a part of the State of Connecticut, the Department of Public Health offers a range of medical care services for individuals and families who suffer with illnesses and diseases. It works to promote physical and mental health, prevent disease, injury and disability, and protect and improve the health and safety of the general public of Connecticut. The department promotes immunization through public awareness sessions and supporting vaccination clinics, as well as issues birth and death certificates and child day care and youth camp licenses. The Department of Public Health conducts assessments for hazardous waste sites and risk communication and education sessions related to potential environmental risk sites.
