A private nonprofit founded in 1963, the Connecticut Association for Children and Adults With Learning Disabilities depends on individual and corporate dononations, memberships and gifts. The group accommodates the learning-disabled and raises awareness of their conditions throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties. It recruits professionals to treat these conditions, helps the learning-disabled understand their rights, identifies government resources for them and works with parents of affected children. CACLD also maintains a bookstore and a research library in its offices at 25 Van Zant St., in East Norwalk.
