The First Lutheran Church in Ellington was established in 1866 and offers its members many ways to become involved with the church community. There are youth groups, study groups, music programs and community outreach programs. With the music program, the church sometimes has a contemporary Sunday when the choir will use modern songs and instruments in the service. For outreach, the church will adopt a family for Thanksgiving, collect warm coats for winter, or do other things that will better the community around it. Sunday school begins at 9am and then the church service begins at 10:30am. After the service, there is a fellowship hour where members can relax and socialize with their fellow churchgoers.
