The Charles N. Enes Community Center houses South Windsor's human services department, comprising the adult and senior services (with the senior center) and the youth and family services departments (with the teen center).
The community center also houses the town's recreation department.
The adult and senior services division responds to the economic, wellness, social and emotional needs of South Windsor adult and older adult citizens. This includes a food and fuel bank, financial assistance, renters' rebate, energy assistance and SNAP benefits.
The youth and family services department provides youth and their families with emotional support, in addition to helping develop essential life skills and creating a greater sense of community.
The Senior Center offers hot meals five days a week Monday through Friday at noon, for $2 donation. There are a variety of exercise programs, such as Zumba, yoga, tai chi and aerobics. It also offers health and wellness programs such blood sugar screenings, blood pressure checks and foot clinics, and staffs an audiologist and dietician.
The Senior Center also organizes numerous social activities like day trips--shows to the Bushnell, the Goodspeed as well as overnight trips including Alaska and Bermuda.
The Teen Center is open to South Windsor youth ages 11 to 19 years old. The center offers a variety of activities six days per week, 52 weeks per year. The center also regularly participates in community service activities. It has billiards, foosball, ping pong, video games (i.e. Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Ice Ball and Dance Machine), a TV and DVD player with DVDs, as well as table games and basketball.
In addition, participants can purchase snacks and beverages. Special events and tournaments happen every month.
