The Branford Public Works Department is headed by Art Baker, who started with the town in Jan. 2011 just a few weeks before the department moved from its location next to the town firehouse at 45 North Main Street to 137 North Branford Road.
The department was moved because of the construction of the new firehouse and will be temporarily located at the new location.
The Public Works Department maintains over 100 miles of roadway as well as drainage and rights of way. Snow and ice removal as well as maintenance of street signs, street signals and traffic lights are overseen by the department.
Additionally, the department maintains sidewalks, open spaces and some seawalls.
The town tree warden is also located in the Public Works facility.
