Meriden's branch of Middlesex Community College informally began with night classes at local high schools in the early 1970s, but for the last five years it has been centralized in one building in the heart of the city's downtown. The center -- a fully accredited offshoot of Middlesex Community College in Middletown -- offers day and evening classes to those seeking to transfer credits to a Bachelor's degree-granting institution, receive an associate degree or professional certification or learn something new. Certificate programs are available to help you become a nurse's assistant, an accounting technician, customer service manager, entrepreneur or early-childhood education professional.
