The Area Agency on Aging is a division of the CSRA Regional Development Center. The agency provides information on new Medicare prescription drug programs, home and community-based services, caregiver programs and elder rights programs in Georgia. The purpose of the Area Agency on Aging is to ease the demands placed on people taking care of elderly or functionally impaired loved ones by providing information and referrals for caregivers; emotional support through support group development and listening sessions; and community education for employers, faith-based ministries and the general public. The U.S. Administration on Aging and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded Georgia a major grant to develop integrated aging and disability resource systems for the state s consumers.
