The APT Foundation is one of the oldest substance abuse programs in Connecticut. Founded in 1970, it is a private, nonprofit organization that provides treatment services for individuals with substance abuse problems. The program serves adults with opiates, cocaine, alcohol and multiple addictions. The APT Foundation also offers specialized programs for women and children with AIDS. It provides health care evaluation, outpatient counseling, methadone maintenance, residential treatment and vocational services. In addition, the foundation is funded by the National Institute for Drug Abuse and the local Boards of Education. The APT Foundation offers residential and outpatient cocaine programs. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities.
