This is a local, independent chapter of the larger, national organization, that has existed in Wilton since 1994 and is funded by the town.
Since 2003, the building has housed female students from inner-city neighborhoods with strong academic abilities in communities with highly reputable school systems in order to improve their chances of being admitted to top-tier colleges and universities. There is also a house for males at another location.
Some of the schools to admit students from A Better Chance in Wilton are Brown University, Harvard Business School, American University and Carnegie Mellon.
