History
Although St. George's was officially formed in 2009, the congregation has been around for over 100 years. The church building was built in 1873 and was the home of the original Grace Episcopal Church. In the 1890s, a group left Grace Church and built St. Stephen's Parish on Tejon and Monument. By the 1920s, both churches were outgrowing their spaces. The two churches decided to pool their resources and come back together as one church. Since there was more land on the St. Stephen's property they chose to build a new, larger building there. In 1925 the congregation of Grace Church left the property on Pikes Peak Ave. and with St. Stephen's formed Grace Church & St. Stephen's. in 2009 a group of parishioners and clergy came out of Grace Church & St. Stephen's to form St. George's Anglican Church. After renting a building in Mountain Shadows for 2 years, the congregation decided to buy back their old building, which had most recently been a night club, and restore it.
