The Parks and Recreation Department operates under the government of the city of Rifle, Colo., which also operates human resources, public works, cemetery and finance departments. The department provides a variety of recreational programs for individuals. It maintains city parks, trails, open spaces and playgrounds. The department s facilities include a cemetery, city hall, picnic shelters, and soccer, softball and baseball fields. The Parks and Recreation Department operates the Art Dague Pool and Waterslide, which was established in 1969 and provides concession stands and pools. The department organizes hunting, fishing, camping, horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking activities. In addition, it provides sports activities, such as volleyball and basketball.
