The Northeast Colorado Health Department, also known as NCHD, offers a range of administrative and health care services. Its family planning services include syphilis treatment, pregnancy testing and consultation on birth control. The department also offers special education and developmental disabilities-related services for children with special needs. Additionally, it provides vaccination for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, varicella and pneumococci. The Northeast Colorado Health Department, with a location in Sterling, Colo., employs several food inspectors who inspect various restaurants, grocery stores, schools and other facilities that store and serve food. The department also tests public and private drinking water for bacterial contamination.
