Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, formerly known as Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers, has been a distributor of vitamins in Colorado since 1955. Based in Lakewood since 1963, it has stores throughout Colorado. Vitamin Cottage is a retailer and grocer of health food, as well as supplements, antioxidants, herbs and homeopathic products. It also sponsors a cycling team and helps to promote healthy living through nutrition education, such as a reference library of medical journals and health care online articles. Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage operates dozens of stores and employs more than 900 workers. About half of the floor space of most stores is dedicated to natural and organic grocery items, which account for a majority of the company's sales.
