In the industrial portions, we service a major power generation plant, the National Renewable Energy Lab, water treatment plants for two neighboring cities, and the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site. The suburban area of our district includes roughly 32, 000 residents plus the transient population visiting major shopping centers as well as city and commercial office buildings. The rural portions include the public water supply for over one-half million people, popular state, and local public recreational lands such as Eldorado Canyon State Park, and City and County of Boulder Open Space lands. The schools in our district service approximately 5, 000 children under the age of 14. The district's first multi-story, 150-resident retirement home is currently in the planning and review process. Rocky Mountain Fire is committed to the people we serve and our staff who provide those services. We attract highly motivated, caring individuals dedicated to being a part of the community for the duration of their career. Firefighters are selected based on their ability to learn the diverse knowledge set required to provide a broad range of services. Firefighters are trained to not only extinguish structure and wildland fires, but also provide emergency medical services. Rocky Mountain Fire transports patients to area hospitals with paramedic ambulances. Additionally, we provide technical rescue in industrial and wilderness environments and hazardous material spill response. As part of our overall commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our residents, we provide education and prevention for schools and businesses, including wildfire preparedness and prevention. The District is committed to the fiscally responsible use of public funds. We take great pride in preparing for the future through the efficient use of those funds. All levels of the organization are involved in maintaining the financial trust of those whom we serve. We incorporate professionalism in all that we do. Whether responding to a fire, teaching fire prevention to school children, creating defensible space around a mountain property, or responding to a heart attack, we are there to meet the ever-changing needs of the public.
