Kinross Gold Corporation is the seventh-largest primary gold producer in the world and expected to produce more than 1.5 million ounces of annual gold equivalent in 2005. The company has interests in nine operating mines in Canada, the United States, Brazil and Chile, and a pipeline of advanced exploration and development projects. About half of its production is in the United States and one quarter in Canada. Since completing a merger with TVX and Echo Bay in 2003, Kinross has successfully increased its reserve base from 13.2 million ounces to nearly 25 million ounces through exploration and acquisitions. The company also has more than 24 million ounces in silver reserves. Kinross is the third-largest primary gold producer in North America. The company was incorporated in 1993.
