Sam Harvey received his MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University ( 2001 ) and BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute ( 1984 ). He has been an artist in residence at Sun Valley Center and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. He has taught and nationally and internationally, including at Anderson Ranch and in Nepal, Taiwan and Japan. He has shown nationally at such venues as Lill Street Arts Center, Chicago ; Santa Fe Clay, Santa Fe ; Trax Gallery, Berkeley, Ca. Alleghany Meadows also received his M.F.A. from Alfred University ( 1999 ) and his BA from Pitzer College, Claremont, CA ( 1994 ). He apprenticed with Takashi Nakazato, Karatsu, Japan, received a Watson Foundation Fellowship for field study of potters in Nepal, and was an artist in residence at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Alleghany has presented lectures and workshops at various venues around the country, including Penland School of Crafts, Mendocino Art Center, and Oregon College of Arts and Crafts. He has shown widely in such venues as Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts, Ashville ; Baltimore Clayworks, Baltimore ; Lill Street Gallery, Chicago ; Chester Springs Studio, Chester Chester Springs PA ; Santa Fe Clay, Santa Fe. He is the founder of Artstream Nomadic Gallery. Harvey / Meadows Gallery specializes in contemporary ceramic art, prints and works on paper. We represent a range of artists, from masters of the 20th century to mid-career and emerging. We are also active in the resale of work by significant artists, including Peter Voulkos, Ken Ferguson, Betty Woodman and furniture by Sam Maloof. Our artists span the possibilities of the ceramic medium from sculptural and figurative to utilitarian and site specific installation. We also specialize in locating specific artist's work or desired pieces for private, public and corporate collections.
