Formed in 1983, the Fremont Sanitation District provides regional wastewater collection and treatment services to the communities of Canon City and Florence, Colo. Its facilities include a wastewater treatment plant and collection center that serves more than 11,000 users, including prisons operated by the Colorado Department of Corrections and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Fremont Sanitation District s engineering department provides maps and project management services. The district s construction department maintains sewer lines in streets. It offers pipeline assessment certification program that keeps the record of cracked or damaged pipes repair services. The Fremont Sanitation District is a political subdivision of the State of Colorado and is governed by an elected board of directors.
