History
The Historic Elkhorn Lodge and Guest Ranch began in 1874 and provided the town of Estes Park with it's first coach house, chapel and school house which still stand today and are available for guest accommodations. The first lodge was small and soon became too small for the crowd the lodge was drawing. Construction of a series of small cabins and cottages began to dot the property and in the early 1900's, a larger more magnificent lodge was erected. The Elkhorn Lodge has been influenced by the likes of F.O. Stanley, Eleanore E. Hondius, Eleanor Roosevelt, and President Theodore Roosevelt. Today the lodge is a gentle reminder of the early days of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.
