The Colorado Division of Wildlife, governed by the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, manages more than 950 wildlife species. The division regulates hunting and fishing activities by issuing licenses and enforcing regulations. It also manages over 230 wildlife areas for public recreation purposes. The Colorado Division of Wildlife provides technical support services for private and public landowners concerning wildlife and habitat management. In addition, the division conducts researches to enhance various wildlife management activities. It develops a range of programs to protect and recover threatened and endangered species. The Colorado Division of Wildlife additionally assists to protect wetland-dependent wildlife through several incentive-based mechanisms.
