Established in 1879, The City of Black Hawk Fire Department responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, extrication, automobile accidents, hazardous material response, service calls and building inspections. Located in Black Hawk, Colo., the department employs more than 22 full-time uniform personnel, including firefighters and paramedics. It offers rescue training and public education programs. The City of Black Hawk Fire Department is a part of the City of Black Hawk, Colo., which occupies over 350 square feet of space. The city also operates a water department that has a proprietary media designed for iron and manganese removal. It also provides a rehabilitation program for the restoration of historical residential structures.
