The department operates through units, such as the bicycle patrol unit, K-9 unit, Patrol unit, detective division and ceremonial unit. Patrol division is responsible for police patrol throughout the town of Yarmouth, Mass. It is the largest unit within the Yarmouth Police Department. The patrol division operates around the clock and performs a variety of functions, such as proactive police patrol, enforcement of law, traffic control and enforcement, crash investigation, homeland security and investigation of criminal complaints.
