The Young Musicians Choral Orchestra (YMCO) is a nationally recognized East Bay youth program that offers musical training, academic reinforcement, and personal development to low-income and underprivileged students. With a focus on orchestral, jazz, and choral music, YMCO serves 70 students and has achieved a 100% graduation rate, with students going on to excel at prestigious universities and conservatories.
Over the past decade, YMCO students have collaborated with Grammy-award winning musicians and have received over $13 million in scholarships. Recognized as the #1 Choral-Orchestra Program in the Bay Area, YMCO was honored with the Coming Up Taller Award from the President's Council on the Arts and Humanities, leading to a performance at the White House in 2007.
