Western Growers is a nonprofit, agricultural trade association whose 3,000 members grow, pack and ship fresh vegetables, fruits and nuts grown in Arizona and California. The organization provides members with employee safety training, trade practices, crop insurance, property and liability insurance, legal services, retirement planning, website consultation and export assistance programs. Its members grow and distribute more than 80 percent of the fresh vegetables and 70 percent of the fresh fruit and nuts grown in Arizona and California. Western Growers is headquartered in Irvine, Calif. It operates field offices in Bakersfield, El Centro, Fresno, Modesto, Oxnard, Sacramento, Salinas, Santa Maria, Sherman Oaks and Watsonville, Calif., and Phoenix and Somerton, Ariz. Western was established in 1926 in California's Imperial Valley and was originally known as the Western Growers Protective Association.
