Established in 1936, West Whittier School is part of the Whittier City School District. It enrolls more than 400 students in grades kindergarten through five. Its curriculum includes reading and writing, language arts, foreign language, math, science, and social studies. The student-teacher ratio in the school is 17-to-1. The school provides various facilities and services for students and staff. West Whittier Elementary comprises a kindergarten area, library, computer lab, multipurpose room and more than 20 classrooms. The school has playgrounds with swings, slides and play bars, as well as grassy fields for running, sports, and games. The school is located in Whittier, Calif.
