Spread over several acres that border I-5 just north of Leucadia Boulevard is Weidners' Gardens, a rural oasis in the middle of the sprawl of Southern California. Here you can dig your own plants right out of the ground, a great way for the kids to get their hands dirty. Weidners' changes along with the seasons, with fuchsias blooming in the early spring and the begonia field stealing the show later. The huge facility serves wholesale and retail customers and can host private events. Evelyn Weidner can often be found greeting customers as her daughter Mary Witesman runs the business.
