Dr. Victor C. Joe is a board-certified UCI Health surgeon who specializes in trauma, burn and critical care surgery. His clinical interests include the treatment of burns. Joe earned his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Va. He completed an internship and a residency in general surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif., followed by a fellowship in surgical critical care at University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. Before joining UCI Health in March 2013, Joe served as medical director of the Edward G. Hirschman Burn Center in Colton, Calif., and associate director of trauma at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, in Colton. In 2014, he received the John E. Connolly Award for excellence in teaching in the UCI School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery. Joe’s research interests include burn resuscitation and outcomes, trauma management and outcomes, and critical care outcomes. His work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals and he has been an invited speaker at regional, national and international meetings and symposia. Joe is certified as a provider and instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) by the American College of Surgeons and Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) by the American Burn Association. He has taught both courses throughout the United States.
