Located in Ventura, Calif., Ventura County Resource Management Agency provides services to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public. It provides services through administration and enforcement of county ordinances, board policies, and state and federal laws regarding land use, and commercial and environmental regulations. The agency has various divisions, including building and safety, environmental health, operations and planning. Its building and safety division provides protection to the public against hazards associated with the construction, use and occupancy of buildings and structures. Additionally, it reviews and verifies engineering plans and calculations, issues building permits, inspects electrical wiring, plumbing and mechanical systems, and mitigates conditions of substandard housing and dangerous buildings.
