The University Cooperative Housing Association offers reasonable-cost housing to qualified students, staff and faculty of UCLA as an alternative to apartments, dormitories, fraternities and sororities. The Co-op is an independent, nonprofit organization operated by and for tenants. This building, Hardman-Hansen Hall, is the largest of the three Co-op buildings in the area. Robinson Hall and Essene Hall are also part of the organization. Some single rooms are available, but most occupants share same-sex rooms. Member benefits include food, utilities, a furnished room, laundry facilities and study lounges.
Along with rent, members are expected to participate in bathroom cleanings, project hours, chore shifts and house meetings, as well as maintain academic standing. Housing is also open to applicants from the UCLA Extension, Santa Monica College and other nearby schools. The building is within walking distance of the UCLA campus, as well as Westwood Village.
