History
Back in 1953, a small group of San Francisco policemen created SFPCU based on their mutual financial needs and unpaid bills. They wished to avoid the high cost of borrowing money from loan companies and banks, so they formed a committee and opened the credit union in the old out building behind Park Station. A partition was built and SFPCU went into business in the old horse stables. Today, SFPCU has over 40,000 members and more than $900 million in assets.
