History
The Open Floor Society was founded by Sascha Escandon and Carolina Cerisola in 2012. Through their dance careers, Sascha and Carolina experienced first-hand the transformative benefits of self-expression. This, paired with the inspiration drawn from their artistic, culturally diverse peers, motivated them to produce events and shows under their company, The Floor Productions. Their goal, through these platforms, was to draw artists together and encourage the interaction between dance, live music and the art of improvisation. Recognizing the limited opportunities for youth to learn improvisation, Sascha and Carolina founded The Open Floor Society to connect underserved communities with an incomparable network of artists, to encourage self-empowerment through the practice of improvisation in movement, dance and music.
