The Film Foundation is a non–profit organization established in the state of California, located within the Directors Guild of America Building – on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and North Hayworth Avenue. The Film Foundation is led by Martin Scorsese and nine other eminent directors: Woody Allen, Robert Altman, Francis Ford Coppola, Clint Eastwood, Stanley Kubrick, George Lucas, Sydney Pollack, Robert Redford and Steven Spielberg.
Film Foundation is focused to nurturing greater awareness of the need to preserve motion picture history. Through such national efforts as the annual film Preservation Festival on American Movie Classics, the Foundation raises funds and distributes them directly to its member archives like the Academy Film Archive and its affiliated organizations.
