History
Somsong was a waitress in a Thai restaurant in Lancaster. she noticed a regular customer who faithfully visited the restaurant always by himself. As time went on she befriended Mr. Clarence Blain and learned he was a widower. She mentioned to him about her sister back in Thailand who had also lost her spouse. The matchmaking took its course. Clarence and Bualai were soon writing letters to each other. Three months later Clarence flew to Thailand to meet her, Clarence was 79 and Bualai was 52. After several trips to Thailand they soon married and returned to the US and purchased the restaurant at Ming and New Stine in Bakersfield. Clarence and Bualai brought Somsung and her husband to assist in the operation of the business, the brother-in-law as the chef and Somsong managed the front end. Along with them they brought the secret family recipes. In March 2008 Clarence and Bualai decided to retire and passed the restaurant to Somsong. They now live happily ever after.
