History
The school is affiliated with Temple B'nai Hayim, a Conservative Jewish congregation founded on July of 1958 to serve its members and the community at large by providing religious, educational, cultural and social programs. The non-profit, sectarian preschool, known as Temple B'nai Hayim Children's Center was founded in October of 1985 through the tireless efforts, dedication and perseverance of Mrs. Barbara Levy. The raising of monies for the Center was delegated to Mr. Heschel Shapiro and those who contributed included Rosalie and Norman Daley, the estate of Abraham Kaufamn, the Jewish Community Foundation of the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles, Lynda and Samuel Oschin, Dorothy Grau and Aggi and Irving Oschin. Ground was broken in February of l989, and Norman Daley was responsible for the design, administration and construction of the Center, which was so ably accomplished while always keeping in mind the safety, convenience and welfare of the children.
