Sunrise MarketPlace Business Improvement District Developed by a coalition of property owners, the Sunrise MarketPlace (SMP) Property and Business Improvement District (PBID) is a benefit assessment district whose purpose is to provide improvements and activities which constitute and create a special benefit to assessed parcels. Sunrise MarketPlace was formed in 1999 and includes approximately ten blocks along Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane. The PBID was renewed for a fourth term in July 2014. Over the last fifteen years, the PBID has provided an unprecedented level of marketing, branding, economic development and advocacy services. The BID has focused on branding, signage and streetscape improvements in order to define and create a distinct identity for the Sunrise/Greenback corridor. SMP has also implemented aggressive advertising and event programs to drive traffic, increase sales and generate awareness for its businesses.
