History
SunDog Therapy was created in 2016 to offer innovative occupational therapy services to children and adults of various needs and abilities through the incorporation of animal assisted therapy. SunDog Therapy initially provided services at Dogwood Therapy in Albuquerque, NM and moved back to Southern California in June 2018.
Specialties
SunDog Therapy strives to promote the health and wellbeing of both humans and animals. We encourage participation in meaningful activities for children and adults of all abilities through our occupational therapy, animal assisted therapy, recreational program, and dog training services. Occupational therapy addresses physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs to empower individuals to better engage in their occupations (activities of daily living, work, rest, and leisure). At SunDog Therapy, we often incorporate dogs into OT intervention through the skilled implementation of animal assisted therapy. For those who love dogs but don't have therapy needs, we also offer dog training and recreational classes. We are passionate about spreading positive human-animal interactions through recreational classes for kids and teens to learn how to communicate with, care for, and train dogs. We also work with dog parents to train their puppies and dogs to have good manners, life skills, and social skills using positive reinforcement, relationship-based, and force-free methods.
