Stonehurst Elementary School was founded in 1942 with the merger of Hansen Heights School and Remsen School. The school has an enrollment of more than 200 students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. It features a computer lab, playground and cafeteria. Stonehurst Elementary School maintains a library that houses a collection of atlases, picture dictionaries, storybooks, puzzles, and fiction and nonfiction books. The school offers classes in English, math, science, social studies and language arts. It is governed by the Los Angeles Unified School District, which also operates several elementary, middle and high schools and early education centers. The school district serves students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
