This fourteen-story tower is part of the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace. As an iconic snapshot of Stanford, this landmark represents the University's devotion to academic research and innovation. The tower's first nine floors house a library available to Hoover Fellows and students. However, students are not free to peruse shelves and require assistance from librarians. While the Hoover Institution is also an extensive library, its primary goal is to safeguard the standing American system. At the top of the tower, a carillon of bells cast in Belgium can be heard when visitors are not visiting the observation deck.
