History
My background includes training in various bodywork modalities, as well as herbal studies, consciousness, and eco-psychology. I studied bodywork initially at the Trinity College massage school (formerly in San Francisco) in 2001, followed by studies at the Institute of Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I also hold an MA in Integral Ecology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and a certificate in Herbal Studies from the California School of Herbal Studies.
Specialties
I weave a blend of Swedish, Deep Tissue, Thai, Trigger Point, and/or Reflexology techniques to create a treatment tailored to each client's unique wants and needs. I also often incorporate custom herbal product blends. Sessions are focused around deep healing and rehabilitation. One hour, 90-minute, and two-hour sessions are offered, with extended (two-hour) sessions being a specialty. I also specialize in treating clients with scoliosis. Thai massage is a specialty. Often called 'Yoga for Lazy People,' Thai massage uses pressure along energy lines (called 'sen') combined with yoga-like stretches to help allow the flow of necessary energies throughout the body. It is based largely on the Indian tradition of Ayurveda, with also some similarities to Chinese medicine. It is traditionally performed fully clothed on a mat on the floor.
