Alameda's Saint Barnabas Parish was established in west Alameda 1925, along with Saint Neri on Alameda's east end as Alameda's Catholic population outgrew Saint Joe's Parish, which had been established by the San Francisco Archdiocese in 1885. Saint Barnabas was bounded by Webster Street until 1929, when the boundary was extended to the west side of Ninth Street. Today Saint Barnabas serves approximately 300 families and has an active worship, social and community calendar. Mass is celebrated daily at 5:30pm on weekdays and at 8am and 10:30am on Sundays.
