The famous Spenger's Fresh Fish Grotto is located in the heart of Berkeley's Fourth Street Shopping District. Established in 1890, the original Spenger's closed in 1998 and was bought by McCormick & Schmick's Fish Restaurants, who completely renovated the space. The interiors and exteriors of Spenger's are known for their seafaring relics taken from famous vessels from around the world. Decor includes gigantic anchors, tridents, nautical maps, tillers and wheels and antique wood from ship's interior. The restaurant offers first-rate seafood, a classic bar with a special Happy Hour menu and several dining and banquet rooms to suit any private or corporate occasion.
