Founded in 1924, the Southwestern Academy is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational, college preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades 6 through 12. It offers academic programs in English, earth science, Spanish, computer literacy, world cultures and geography, humanities, U.S. history and economics. The academy additionally offers courses in physics, British literature, biology, mathematics and physical education. The Southwestern Academy employs psychologists who provide counseling, testing and crisis intervention services. It also offers a variety of sports activities, such as baseball, hockey, soccer, football, basketball and golf. The academy offers other activities that include hiking, camping, mountain climbing, skiing, fishing, trail biking, canoeing, water skiing, boating, swimming, horseback riding and roller skating. The Southwestern Academy is located in San Marino, Calif.
