In late July 1984 Sonshine Auto Body located at 16611 Mojave Drive in Victorville (now known as Sonshine Auto Body-North ) was opened with only 7 employees (including the owner ). At that time this was the largest building available in Victorville (9, 000 square ft. ) and with the population being less than ten thousand people, there seemed to be a market for a small shop offering complete auto repaint and medium body repairs at an affordable price. By that December we realized there was more demand for collision repair, due to the extremely harsh winters prevalent in those days. We changed our emphasis from production auto painting to collision repair, made another major equipment purchase, and hired more technicians to better meet the needs of our high desert residents. Our goal was to improve and expand our ability to provide our community with the finest in both quality repairs and customer care. As early as February of 1985, the fledgling business had grown beyond an owner/operator's ability to effectively manage all aspects of the business ; we then increased our staffing, added more equipment and expanded into an adjacent building. Over the years, as the population in the Victor Valley continued to grow, so did collisions. It did not take long to max out our facility. Since there where no other buildings suitable for expansion and accommodation to the new technologies, designing and building a new location became our only option. After two years of preparation, we broke ground early November 1996 at our Jasmine Street location, and immediately began the construction of our new, 30, 000 sq ft facility ; the new and improved Sonshine Auto Body was completed and operational in May of 1997. The company presently employs 55 families. Sonshine Auto Body has become a household word in the High Desert. We take great pride in our tradition of quality and service to our community.
