The Sonoma County Office of the District Attorney serves as a representative of the people of the state of California. It prosecutes all criminal matters in the county and employs more than 125 staff members that include attorneys, investigators, victim advocates, claims specialists and support personnel. The district attorney s office operates the Sonoma County Victim Assistance Center, which helps alleviate the trauma and devastating effects of crime on the lives of victims and their families. The Sonoma County Office of the District Attorney offers a variety of victim services, such as crisis intervention, emergency assistance, resource and referral assistance, follow-up counseling, orientation to the criminal justice system, court escort and support, and case status and disposition information. Located in Santa Rosa, Calif., it maintains gang crimes, narcotics, juvenile and identity theft units, as well as a bureau of investigations.
