The South Bayside System Authority provides wastewater treatment services in accordance with technical, environmental and safety standards. Established in 1980, the authority enables wastewater to be recycled by using advanced biological treatment. Its treatment plants use bacteria to remove solids, organic materials and pathogens from the wastewater. The South Bayside System Authority also specializes in studying the feasibility of carrying out recycled water projects. It offers technical assistance for the development of local recycled water programs. The authority additionally organizes facility tours for schools. It has also received an award from the California Water Environment Association. Located in Redwood City, Calif., the South Bayside System Authority serves the cities of Belmont, San Carlos, Menlo Park and Portola Valley in California.
