Founded in 1965, Shasta Head Start Child Development is a nonprofit agency that provides child care and social services to income-eligible children and their families. The agency offers opportunities for education, parenting support and resources to families in its communities. It oversees a professional staff of more than 200 employees. Shasta Head Start Child Development administers Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Head Start is a national program that includes activities for the mental, emotional, social and physical growth of preschool children, as well as provides social services for the families of enrolled children. Shasta Head Start Child Development s programs also feature parent involvement, child development education, social services, and medical and dental screenings.
