History
We grew up on the Central Coast of California, in the town of Santa Maria. All throughout our lives we've eaten, made, smelled, and loved the unique type of barbecue that pops up each weekend in backyards, parks, and shopping centers in Santa Maria. The one of a kind cut of meat (the tri-tip), the special blend of seasoning for the dry rub, and the use of only red oak are just a few of the factors that make Santa Maria Style Oak Pit BBQ something that you won't forget. Having to relocate to the Inland Empire, we soon discovered that of the many excellent restaurants and caterers, no one offered tri tip the way we want it - cooked authentically and without barbecue sauce! We resolved to bring a taste of the Central Coast to Southern California. Trust us, once you taste this barbecue, you will not be able to get enough!
Specialties
There are lots of places here in Southern California that cook a mean barbecue meal. But there aren't very many that offer authentic Santa Maria Style. We cook our food over an open flame made up of red oak wood. Red oak is a smokey wood, but it's that smoke that gives our meat its distinct flavor. We offer the traditional meal that's so popular up on the Central Coast of California: a plate of tri-tip or chicken, homemade ranchero beans (made with pinquito beans, beans native to the Central Coast), garlic bread toasted over the fire, a green salad and homemade salsa - no bbq sauce to cover up the taste of that beef. If you're looking for something a little simpler, we also offer tri-tip sandwiches, individually packaged and ready to eat. Let us introduce you and your guests to a regional cooking style that will make a huge impression. Authentic Santa Maria Style BBQ in Southern California!
