Located in the Marketplace shopping center, the San Ramon Library is across the street from Central Park and the San Ramon Community Center.
The library was constructed with funding from the city of San Ramon and first opened its doors in 1989. Today, the library houses over 80,000 books and is a center for community activity.
The library contains a large children's area and story room, a teen area, public access computers and free wireless Internet access. The library is especially known for its large jazz collection, with over 1200 CDs, 125 videos and 220 books available for checkout and subscriptions to 10 jazz magazines and newsletters.
Programs offered to the public include the Speak Up! ESL conversation group for adults, the Page Turners Book Club, Kids Reads 2010 events, Toddler Storytime and more.
