San Leandro's main public library is one of the city's major centers of community life. The library has a large collection of books, music CDs, DVDs and reference materials, including sections of Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese-language books. There's also a spacious children's library, and a computer lab with 12 PCs and six laser printers. When not being used for computer training workshops, the lab is reserved for patrons using software programs such as Word and PowerPoint. Other computers in the library offer Internet and access to the library's catalog as well as online databases.
The library's two floors have numerous tables for studying or reading. The San Leandro history room is, unfortunately, closed temporarily because of budget constraints.
Six rooms and a lecture hall can be rented for private or public events (fees for private events vary depending on the applicant's non-profit status and local residency). The library also has a used book store and a café/gift store which generate money for the library.
