The San Bernardino County Fire Department is an all risk/full-service department. San Bernardino County is one of the largest counties in the United States, and the fire department s jurisdiction encompasses more than 16,000 square miles of diverse environments that stretch from the Los Angeles County line to the Colorado River to the Nevada state line. The department provides services to more than 65 communities and cities, as well as the unincorporated area of the county. This expanse is diverse not only demographically, but also geographically and climatically. Its jurisdiction includes several highly urbanized metropolitan areas, major interstate and rail transportation corridors, mountain resorts and tracts of recreational desert lands. Its jurisdiction is bisected by the San Andreas Fault, as well as many lesser faults. County Fire is made up of more than 430 vehicles. The San Bernardino County Fire Department is headquartered in Fontana, Calif.
