The Parish of Saint Matthew is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. The church was first built at the corner of Swarthmore and La Cruz, built in 1942. Since then, the church moved to its present location, was burnt down in a fire and rebuilt in 1983.
Services are held Sunday mornings at 8AM and 10:15AM, with Wednesday and Thursday morning services as well. The outreach ministries of the church support a wide range of activities like music, worship groups, study groups, pastoral care and outreach of organizations and projects throughout world.
The church sits on 42 acres of land, which includes 13 buildings, four residences, a swimming pool, athletic fields and nature trails.
Saint Matthew's Parish is also home to a pre-school and day school for students through 8th grade. The pre-school was started in 1949, with the day school starting the following year. Many educational programs are offered here, along with extensive sports activities on the athletic fields, indoor gym and swimming pool.
